Painted Black

Words: Chris Malme
To the tune of "Paint It Black" by the Rolling Stones
Inspired by "The Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy" by Douglas Adams

I see a space-ship which someone has painted black,
It's such a lovely sight, completely painted black.
Right now I need a craft to save my precious hide,
Would people notice if I took her for a ride?

The air-lock opens when I push the lever back.
I peer inside in vain, but all I see is black.
I venture forward just to take a look within,
The air-lock closes and that's when my fears begin.

Inside the ship it's all completely painted black
There's lights and dials and things, but all of them are black.
I hear the music, and I know what I have done,
I scream in terror as the ship heads for the sun.

I sit inside a ship that someone's painted black
It's such a lovely ship, completely painted black
My future's looking black,
I wish I could go back........
